1. Select a piece
Tap one of your pieces. The squares it can move to get a thin outline. A shaded square means you can capture an enemy piece there.
Two armies of chess pieces paint the board. Every move colours the square you land on. Own the most squares when the turns run out, or complete a full row or column, depending on the win rule you pick.

Tap a highlighted square to move. The square where you land becomes your colour, even if it was the other player’s. Squares you pass over do not change.
Land on an enemy piece to capture it. It comes back as the same kind of piece on a random empty square. That new square is not painted.
Rook: straight lines. Bishop: diagonals. Queen: both. Knight: jumps in an L. King: one step. Pawn: one step forward (Blue up, Red down), captures diagonally forward. No check.
Choose in “Win”. Most territory: each side gets a set number of turns; then the side with more squares wins (equal is a draw). Row or column: first to own a whole row or column wins at once.
Vs Bot: your colour and who starts are random. The bot’s move is outlined for a moment before it happens. 2 Players: take turns on one device. The glow around the board shows whose turn it is.
