Sofi games

A shelf of experimental games I make between astrophysics research and music. Simple rules, different ways of thinking: colours that cancel out, light that adds up, a demon sorting molecules, and tiny AI agents that can't keep a secret.

It starts with a questionEach game started as a question: what if stamps cancelled out? What if light had arithmetic? What if a thought experiment was a game? Made by Sofia Gallego, an astrophysicist and artist in Paris.
Science insideParity, wave interference, thermodynamics and tidal forces show up in the rules, but you don't need to know any of it to play. Games with real science behind them have a “The science” button that tells what is real.

About Sofia

Sofia Gallego is an astrophysicist. She studies how galaxies and the gas between them grow and change, from the faint threads of the cosmic web to crowded galaxy clusters. Her PhD was at ETH Zurich, and her research continued at Caltech and Université Paris Cité. In Paris she founded CosmoVentures, a small studio where that science meets games, workshops and consulting. She is also a singer, violinist and writer, and she grew up under the clear skies of northern Chile. These games come from the same curiosity.
